About John

John Gallagher

As a seasoned veteran in the photography world, John’s 40-year career has given him a wide range of experiences. From the inside of a nuclear reactor to the Washington State Penitentiary, he’s photographed it all. Starting out in photojournalism, John learned early on how to tell a story with a single, poignant exposure. Running a portrait studio honed his skill of getting a person’s inner light to shine through for the camera. Through assignments photographing commercial and industrial settings, John developed the art of lighting large-scale working environments depicting the vibrancy and motion of business. A 20-year stint in freelancing provided him with a wealth of experience photographing people, places, products and processes. A dozen years in-house with a Fortune 100 company saw John play a leading role in developing the photographic style that distinguished the organization from their competitors. Now back in the freelance arena, John is looking forward to working with a variety of clients to develop imagery that supports their brand and messaging.

Best described as a generalist because of his ability to execute a wide range of assignment work, John is equally comfortable in the studio or on location. He brings the knowledge and experience of many years of collaborating with clients, marketers, and designers to bring projects from conception to completion.
